NEW DELHI: A 40-year-old woman was allegedly gangraped on Wednesday night in a moving car by four men, including a friend of her husband, in northeast Delhi.

The incident occurred at around 9 pm in Seelampur area when the woman was offered a lift by her husband’s friend Arif while she was returning from a nearby market, a police official said.

When she got into the car, she found three other men inside. She was then allegedly raped and dumped after an hour in nearby Seemapuri area, he added

The victim has been admitted to Guru Tegh Bahadur Hospital and her condition is said to be critical.

“We are verifying her claims. Teams have fanned out to arrest the accused,” the official said.

As is the case with all his films, there is something special with this film too. Kamal Haasan is making the film in four languages. Marmayogi will be made simultaneously in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Malayalam.

The film has been titled as ‘It is a Man’s World’. Saurabh Sengupta is the director. Vijay Pereira and Rishiraj Handa are the producers. Biswajeet Ratan Mitra (22), from West Bengal came to Mumbai with dreams of making it big in Bollywood. And to fulfill his dream, he had been approaching Mahesh Bhatt since the past one and a half years. He wanted Bhatt to give him a role in one of his films. However, since he hasn’t gotten a break as yet, he attempted suicide outside Bhatt’s office, yesterday.

He poured kerosene all over himself and was just about to light a match. Fortunately, a police man was present and was able to restrain him. Although Bhatt had not promised him a role, he had not even told him to stop coming to his office. He used to frequently come to the office. Yesterday, he had already decided that he would end his life. When he went to Bhatt’s office, the staff didn’t allow him to meet the director. So he went ahead with his plans. He has been booked for attempting suicide. He has to appear in court, tomorrow.

Mahesh Bhatt has no plans of directing a project on late Pakistani prime minister Benazir Bhutto that will be undertaken in collaboration with Pakistan.

“I’m through with direction. My last film as director was ‘Zakhm’. Then I hung up my boots. The page in my life has turned,” said Bhatt.

So what’s the truth about the proposed Benazir project?

“I was approached by a lady from Pakistan who wants us (Vishesh Films) to collaborate with them. In principle we’re on.”

However, Bhatt thinks it’s too early to get into the project.

“The news of the project came from Pakistan. We didn’t announce it. We’ve to get a go-ahead from Benazir’s family and her party. The blood is still fresh on the streets. It isn’t right to talk about a movie on the slain leader’s life at this stage.”

Regarding the crucial question as to who will direct the Benazir project, Mahesh said: “It would most probably be a Pakistani director. He may bring into the protagonist’s character and her surroundings an understanding that we may lack. We at Vishesh Films will back them with our team.”

Bollywood starlet Amisha Patel feels that media blew up kissing episodes involving Shipa Shetty-Richard Gere and Bipasha Basu-Cristiano Ronaldo.

”There is no controversy in these matters. Media blitz over these issues is unwarranted,” Amisha, who was here to attend a private programme, told reporters today.

Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty has blasted people who protested against her kiss with Hollywood actor Richard Gere by burning effigies.

The 32-year-old actress, who became the subject of national controversy in India after she was kissed by the ‘Pretty Woman’ star several times in jest on the cheek at an AIDS-awareness event, has branded the protestors ‘lunatics’.
